International Summer School - Computational Design for Additive Manufacturing: Exploring Field-Driven Design for Advanced Ceramics

The Hybrid Materials Laboratory of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Technology (MEMTi) is organizing the International Summer School on Computational Design for Additive Manufacturing, an international educational initiative dedicated to advanced computational design, with a focus on field-driven design, additive manufacturing, and advanced ceramics.

The meeting includes an in-depth look at the 2023 derailment in the Gotthard Base Tunnel, presented by Philippe Thürler, Head of Investigations at SISI, the Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Service.

Academic seminar focused on generative design for heat transfer enhancement, with particular attention to metamaterials and field optimization. The event will open with an introduction by Nicola Bianco, Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering. This will be followed by a scientific talk by Marcello Iasiello, Associate Professor, addressing computational methodologies and new frontiers in advanced thermal design.
